Food Network to feature Hillcrest’s Mama Testa Taqueria tonight

Now I’m not a big Food Network junkie … the channel just magnifies how bad my cooking is. But I’ll definitely be tuning in tonight at 9 p.m. to check out “Throwdown with Bobby Flay” as he features Hillcrest’s popular Mexican restaurant Mama Testa.

According to the preview of the show on the Food Network’s website, Bobby will be challenging the “Mexican Food expert chef and restaurateur” at Mama Testa to a “fish taco throwdown.” I’ll leave that last bit to your imaginations…

In case you’re unfamiliar with the show, here’s a bit about what Bobby does:

“Chef Bobby Flay is on a secret mission: to challenge the absolute masters in different kinds of cooking – award-winning BBQers, bakers, pizza makers and more. In each episode, one of these cooks thinks Food Network is shooting their profile for a show. What they don’t know is that Bobby is going to drop in for a surprise visit and challenge them to an unexpected cook-off. So make sure to check it out, because it’s only so often a San Diego gets national attention that doesn’t involve a) tourists or b) the weather.
