Theatre On The Point Offers Free Performances!
Point Loma Actors’ Workshop presents the second annual Theatre On The Point with a free performance of Moliere’s The Forced Marriage. They perform Aug. 29-30 in Shelter Island and Sept. 5-6 in Ocean Beach.
The Forced Marriage is a hilarious play that stands the test of time with its irreverent take on the institution of marriage. Sganarelle is ready to marry a saucy, young thing until various revelations make him rethink the sense of this plan. The show follow the anti-hero’s quest for enlightenment, from excitement to doubt to genuine dread, while he encounters a motley mix of philosophers, fortune-tellers and potential in-laws.
During his journey, the audience will delight in these larger than life characters and their enthusiastically ignorant claims about what it means to be married. Lively fun for the whole family, The Forced Marriage is a slapstick farce that will have you nodding in agreement even as you howl with laughter!
David Sein, producer of the production says, “We are pleased to present free theatre to the community and our acting company is thrilled to perform outdoors on Shelter Island and Ocean Beach. The play will be staged in the original 17th century period and will include audience participation. We would love to see a great turn out!”
Families with children are particularly invited to enjoy this live theatre experience. All are encouraged to bring blankets, and chairs for comfort. All performances start at 6 p.m. and the one-act play runs about an hour and a half.
