Taylor Swift Slated to Open 2018 American Music Awards
Hot off the presses! The 28-year-old singer just announced she will be opening this year’s American Music Award show, which will air live on Oct. 9 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, broadcast on ABC. Dick Clark Productions announced that Swift will perform the single, “I Did Something Bad” from her Reputation album. The singer, who is also competing for “Artist of the Year” alongside Drake, Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons and Post Malone, will be performing at her first awards show performance in nearly three years.
Cardi B will also perform at the awards show, marking her very first televised awards show performance since the birth of her first child in July. Cardi B ties for top-nominated AMA artist this year with a total of eight nominations, including “New Artist of the Year”.
Also performing will be Bad Bunny, who Rolling Stone Magazine has called, “The Four-Billion-Stream Man”, having demonstrated his already overwhelming power, influence and demand with completely sold-out concerts for his “La Nueva Religión Tour”.
Other performers include José Álvaro Osorio Balvin – better known to a legion of global fans as J Balvin, praised by Billboard as “the biggest breakout act Latin music has seen in many years”, Benny Blanco, Halsey, Khalid, Cardi B, Mariah Carey, Ciara featuring Missy Elliott, Dua Lipa, Post Malone (also nominated for eight awards) featuring Ty Dolla $ign. Finally, Panic! At The Disco joins for what will hopefully be a moving tribute to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.
The AMAs are 100% voted on by fans, so it is always interesting to see who wins.
I wonder if Kanye is invited?
