Michael Jackson laid to rest in memorial Thursday
Nearly two months after Michael Jackson’s death, he was finally laid to rest.
Yesterday the Jackson family gathered with supporters for a memorial service Thursday night. The family was joined by approximately 200 people, including celebrity friends Quincy Jones, Lisa Marie Presley, and Elizabeth Taylor.
The crowd gathered at the highly guarded mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. The touching ceremony began with Michael’s children placing a crown on their father’s head, representing his place in history as the “King of Pop.” At 9:43 PM, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Randy Jackson carried the casket to it’s final resting place as Gladys Knight sang “His Eye Is on the Sparrow.” Clifton Davis also performed “Never Can Say Goodbye,” which he originally wrote for the Jackson 5.
Michael Jackson’s death is still under investigation. The cause of death has been determined to be a result of a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol and another sedative. Jackson’s doctor Conrad Murray remains a primary target of the investigation.
Press was allowed at the service, and video of Michael Jackson’s burial can be found below:
