Lady Gaga on Jay Leno
After making a controversial appearance on the Grammy’s Sunday, Lady Gaga made a stop at the Jay Leno Show to discuss Vogue, The Grammy’s, her new single “Born this Way,” and the new album.
Despite the dark appearance and interesting “implants” on her face and shoulders, Gaga came across pretty normal and kept the conversation light and funny.
Her recently released title track off her record, “Born This Way” has received some rave reviews and some strong criticism, but the negatives don’t seem to affect Gaga. “I love this album so much and I hope my monsters do too.”
It took nearly a year and a half to write the album and over a year to produce, answering many questions about Gaga’s hiatus from the radio waves over the last month. She calls the album eclectic, and light. She says it’s a celebration of life. “It doesn’t always have to be so dark. It doesn’t always have to be so sexy.”
In response to criticism about the similarities between “Born This Way” and “Express Yourself,” it appears the Madonna camp has reached out to Gaga in full support. “The good news is I got an email from her people and her, sending their love and complete support on behalf of the single.”
She mentioned her appearance at the Grammy’s and her obviously interesting chose of wardrobe. If you’re wondering what the egg (aka “vessel”) meant, Gaga says it was meant to signify rebirth, and was a commentary on race and prejudice.
As part of the late night appearance, Lady Gaga also made a few special announcements. First, that she will be filming an HBO Special for Monster Ball — something fans can surely look forward to. Second, her video for “Born This Way” will be released soon. It has been a collaboration between Gaga, fashion photographer Nick Knight, and choreographer Laurieann Gibson.
