Beyoncé Relives Past with New Pepsi Ad
Beyoncé fans are in for a treat with the artist’s new Pepsi commercial, a spectacular spot in which she battles her past selves. The spot is called “Mirrors” and features the artist’s new single “Grown Woman” reliving some of her most iconic looks, with a fresh new dance.
The commercial is directed by Jake Nova, who collaborated with Beyoncé for some of her most defining music videos such as “Crazyin Love,” “Bootylicious,” and “Single Ladies.”
Reliving these characters was emotional for the artist, “I got to relive some of my favorite past characters and looks. It was the first time I saw those costumes in years and it was very emotional,” she said. She added, “I’m proud of these moments and they all connect in some way and have helped me evolve into who I am today.”
And who she is today is the result of many intelligent career decisions, teaming up with Pepsi is one of them. For this partnership, Beyoncé has been given creative power to lead the branding of the popular drink, including: content and design power as well as song power. It’s a win-win situation for Beyoncé and Pepsi, “She is at the epicenter of pop culture,” says Brad Jakeman, president of PepsiCo’s Global Beverages Group. “We couldn’t have asked for a better creative partner.”
For this project, Beyoncé’s “Grown Woman” is expected to reach more than 1 billion people worldwide. The artist will also be a part of the design of the new Pepsi cans with her image, and she will also play a role in the Pepsi Creative Development Fund to develop consumer content.
Beyonce’s 2013 album release date has yet to be announced but her tour “The Mrs. Carter Show” will be kicking off in Kombank Arena in Belgrade on April 15th. Meanwhile, she is keeping her American fans appeased with the release of one of her newest singles “Bow Down/Been On” produced by Timbaland.
